Tent-Pitching Mistakes
- When pulling tension, everybody should pull at the same time so that the sheets will be neat and straight. [also prevents water from collecting]
- For the main guyline, tie a clove hitch between the inner and outer sheet on the metal pin
- Make sure the ventilation gap is large enough, about 20cm
- Roll up door flaps neatly.
- Check for wind direction properly. Use grass method.
- Wall guylines should form 1 straight line when looked from the top.
- All pegs must be pegged into the ground at 45ยบ as much as possible
- When pegging, make sure that all pegs are aligned. When completed, all pegs should form a straight line vertically and horizontally.
- All pegs should form 2 rectangles, 1 inner one and another outer one. The outer rectangle should be of 4 by 3 pegs, with only the 2 main guylines out of the rectangle.
- When tying the bowline to the eye, make sure that the loop is so small that nothing else can be inserted into it.
- Make sure that the vertical poles are standing on the ground, out of the ground sheet.
- Most importantly, remember to finish within the time limit.
